Stand Against Proctorio’s SLAPP – Update #10

Dear friends,

I am pleased to announce that the Protection of Public Participation Act (PPPA) hearing to dismiss Proctorio’s Strategic Lawsuit Against Public Participation (SLAPP) has been scheduled for November 30th – December 3rd, 2021.

The PPPA application I filed on October 16th, 2020 will finally be heard in the Supreme Court of British Columbia. Can you believe it has been a year? I can. I will remember every day.

As always, you may read my Anti-SLAPP application and other filings at https://defence.linkletter.org . I will continue to publish defence materials as we file them. Proctorio’s filings are available at the Vancouver Registry, Docket S208730.

Some of you may wish to observe the court proceedings, and I welcome you. The hearing is scheduled in Vancouver, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic it may be necessary to listen by phone. I will share more information when this becomes clear.

This has been a long journey and I thank each and every one of you for helping me get to the finish line. Your support means the world to me and I will never forget it. Thank you so incredibly much!

Thanks also to my superb legal team at Arvay Finlay LLP. I am represented by Catherine Boies Parker, Q.C. and Caroline North, and they have my full confidence.

One last thing. I would like to share a letter about Proctorio I wrote to 8 US Senators: https://dearsenators.linkletter.org . Please read it and consider: what would your letter say? If you’re able, I encourage you to flex your freedom and write it.

Look out for each other, especially those struggling or afraid to be heard. Now is the moment for us to work together against surveillance, and every voice matters.

Sincerely,

Ian Linkletter
